THE
EXCUTIVE SUMMARY
This Organization- ACADEMIC CHARITY AND TALENTED
NETWORK with the acronym ACTNET is a non-governmental Organization with the
spirit of coordinating, organizing and mobilizing efforts to foster the
development of the green generation (young people) in Tanzania. The main area
of focus and specialization is in ACADEMIC (EDUCATION) field which is
one among the three historical enemies advocated since the attainment of
our political independence in 1961. Apart from this problem of Ignorance,
other problems are Poverty and Diseases. But since then, the trend shows
that if the community is free from Ignorance; it is possible to do away with
poverty and diseases since there is a close rapport between Ignorance and these
other two enemies of development.
Our government has, since independence, been pushing
forward this education sector through different strategies, policies and
programmes. Some of the most notable programmes are Universal Primary Education
(UPE), Education for All (EFA), Education for self reliance, Free Education for
All, Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP), Secondary Education
Development Programme (SEDP) as well as other strategies like the ongoing
improvements in different levels of education- ranging from Pre-primary
level to University.
Also, other educational stake-holders have been
working hand in hand with the government to solve different educational based
problems. These partners include; Civil societies, Non Governmental
Organizations, Community Based Organizations, individual partners as well as
International partners.
Academic Charity and Talented Network (ACTNET) is
the organization that aims to operate in dealing with young girls and boys from
Primary schools to Secondary schools (O-level and A-level). It deals with
Talented and Gifted girls and boys and those with special excellence in
specific skills but are socially, economically and financially poor. Research shows
that there are a number of children who are academically excellent but fail to
go on with further studies because they fail to afford different expenses.
Also, in coastal areas, the problem is acute as there are many children who
suffer from this problem due to combination of factors like poverty, historical
background, cultural tendencies, poor consciousness as well as man made
reasons. It aims to operate at a national level but it goes stage by stage
starting with five regions. These regions are:

Morogoro

Coast region
(Pwani)
·
Tanga
·
Lindi and
·
Mtwara
Therefore, it is our hope that ACTNET, together with
other stake-holders with good hearts, will work hard to pay this debt in hand.

community awareness on how to overcome poverty.
